Daqing Oilfield: "Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains are Invaluable Assets."

In terms of petroleum enterprises, the integration of exploitation and ecological protection is feasible and necessary. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Daqing Oilfield in Heilongjiang Province has taken the principle that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" as a guideline, steadfastly pursued the "dual carbon"(carbon peaking and carbon neutrality) goals, and actively advanced green and low-carbon development. This effort has accelerated the formation of a new pattern of multi-energy complementarity and green development strategy.

In order to solve the problem of produced water, Daqing Oilfield started with pollutant treatment. A large number of in-depth treatments for produced water have been constructed. Through an efficiently operated pipeline network for produced water distribution, a “zero discharge” of produced water is achieved by being reinjected into oil reservoirs. Meanwhile, the generated oily sludge undergoes treatment and reuse through harmless disposal and resource recovery measures, successfully achieving “turn waste into wealth”.

In terms of fuel selection, Daqing Oilfield has completely replaced traditional coal with natural gas, significantly reducing key pollutant emissions such as soot, sulfur dioxide (SO2), and nitrogen oxides (NOX). Through the upgrading and reconstruction of the coal-fired unit, the oilfield has successfully reduced the emission of SO2, NOX, CO2 and many other pollutants, making a contribution to environmental protection. 

When it comes to ecological protection, Daqing Oilfield is actively pursuing ecological conservation by establishing “oxygen-rich ecological zones”, developing model eco-areas, and comprehensively enhancing forest carbon sink initiatives. At the same time, the Oilfield has been  continuously promoting technical innovation and committing to energy saving, emission reduction, and low-carbon development. It has achieved key technological breakthroughs that synergize economic performance with environmental protection. 

On the path of green and low-carbon transition, Daqing Oilfield has put the people first, upheld the goals of green development and prosperous livelihoods, and persistently advanced the “Daqing Path” of harmonious, low-carbon development. Through dedicated institutional safeguards, targeted policy implementation, and professional team development, Daqing Oilfield is endeavoring to build a beautiful and prosperous oilfield, actively contributing to a new phase of high-quality development.
