New Treatment Process by KHC Coalescing Oil-Water Separator for Light Oil Storage Tank Wastewater
To address the challenges of separating water in light oil storage tanks, the Shenzhen Clear Science & Technology Co., Ltd (SINOKLE) has developed a new treatment process with the KHC Coalescing Oil-Water Separator as the core equipment. The wastewater from the light oil storage tank first enters a pre-filter to remove most of the impurities and suspended solids. It then passes through the KHC Coalescing Oil-Water Separator for deep treatment. The effluent is generally able to meet discharge requirements. If the water quality is poor due to shock conditions, further treatment with an activated carbon filter or CDFU (Cyclonic Dissolved Gas Flotation Unit) can be applied to ensure the final discharge meets standards.
Flowchart of Light Oil Storage Tank Water Separation Treatment Process
Core Technology Principle
The KHC Coalescing Oil-Water Separator integrates four key technologies: centrifugal separation by cyclone, wet coalescing, collision coalescing, and interception filtration.
· Centrifugal Separation: A centrifugal force field is generated by the inlet cyclone device to quickly separate the dispersed oil.
· Wet Coalescing: Super-hydrophilic, oleophobic fiber materials adsorb small oil droplets, forming an oil film that coalesces.
· Collision Coalescing: Optimized flow path design promotes the collision of oil droplets, accelerating the increase in particle size.
· Interception Filtration: Modular filter cartridges intercept residual oil droplets and suspended solids, ensuring the effluent quality.
Equipment Advantages
Dimension | Traditional Process | KHC Coalescing Oil-Water Separator |
Oil Removal Efficiency | Emulsified oil removal rate <80% | Removal of emulsified oil >0.1μm, total oil removal rate >95% |
Treatment Time | Wastewater retention time >30 minutes | Retention time <3 minutes, efficiency 10 times higher |
Impurity Resistance | Prone to clogging, frequent backwashing needed | Special modified fiber, anti-breakage, anti-corrosion, suitable for high-suspended solids environments |
Operating Cost | Filter lifespan <1 year | Filter lifespan 2-5 years, modular design for easy replacement |
Footprint | Multiple equipment linked, large footprint | Skid-mounted design, high integration, saves over 50% space |
Comprehensive Advantages of the New Process
· Efficient and Stable: Single equipment handles 5-150m³/h, suitable for oil storage tanks, refineries, etc.
· Environmentally Friendly and Energy-saving: Fully enclosed, automated operation with no secondary pollution; low energy consumption (<0.5 kW·h/m³).
· Smart Maintenance: Equipped with differential pressure monitoring and automatic backwash system, reducing manual intervention.
· Economic: Total lifecycle cost (TCO) is 30%-40% lower than traditional processes.
Cases: A petrochemical company adopted the KHC Coalescing Oil-Water Separator to treat oil-contaminated wastewater with an influent oil concentration of 15% (150,000mg/L). The effluent consistently meets standards (≤50mg/L), with oil-water content ≤0.1%. The annual recovered oil value exceeds 2 million RMB.
Conclusion
The KHC Coalescing Oil-Water Separator, through material innovation and process integration, effectively addresses the challenges of treating oil-contaminated wastewater from light oil storage tanks. It achieves efficient, economic, and environmentally friendly treatment goals, providing the petrochemical industry with a next-generation solution.
