Sinokle’s CFU Tech: Compact Power for Oily Wastewater Treatment

Oily industrial wastewater is a major environmental challenge for industries such as petroleum exploitation, refining and chemical processing, and mechanical manufacturing. This type of wastewater features complex composition, containing free oil, dispersed oil, emulsified oil and a large amount of suspended solids. Improper treatment will not only cause severe environmental pollution such as water body hypoxia and soil hardening, but also clog subsequent treatment equipment and increase operation and maintenance (O&M) costs. Traditional treatment technologies generally suffer from pain points including low efficiency, large floor space requirement and poor shock resistance: the hydraulic retention time (HRT) of conventional dissolved air flotation (DAF) equipment is 10-15 minutes with a single-stage oil removal efficiency of only 60%-80%; gravity separation equipment occupies a huge floor space and has poor treatment effect on emulsified oil; chemical demulsification methods require the addition of large quantities of chemicals, which is prone to secondary pollution. The CFU (Compact Flotation Unit) pressurized closed compact DAF technology independently developed by Sinokle takes "cyclonic flow + air flotation" as its core, subverts the traditional logic of oily wastewater treatment, and becomes an optimal solution for high efficiency, compact layout and environmental protection.

Sinokle's CFU technology is the latest next-generation of compact DAF technology. Its innovation lies in integrating the cyclonic flow principle into the DAF system: it generates uniform micro-bubbles through high-speed hydraulic shearing, and at the same time, utilizes the strong centrifugal force formed by cyclonic flow to greatly increase the collision probability and flotation rate of bubbles with oil droplets and suspended solids, thus realizing efficient oil-water and solid-liquid separation. Compared with the hydraulic or mechanical shearing methods of traditional DAF technologies, CFU technology generates more stable bubbles with a more uniform particle size. Combined with the pressurized closed operation design, it further enhances the separation efficiency and treatment stability.

The structural design of the technical system highlights the advantages of "compact and high efficiency": it adopts an integrated skid-mounted structure, which highly integrates functional modules such as cyclonic flow generator, bubble generator and separation zone. Without the need for complex supporting facilities, it facilitates quick on-site installation and greatly shortens the construction period. There are no moving parts inside the equipment, and automatic separation is realized based on the principles of fluid mechanics, which reduces the risk of mechanical failures and markedly improves operational reliability. Meanwhile, the pressurized closed operation mode prevents gas leakage and completely eliminates the potential safety and environmental hazards of traditional atmospheric DAF equipment, making it particularly suitable for industries with stringent safety and environmental requirements such as petroleum and chemical engineering.

In terms of control, CFU technology supports fully automatic operation. It can conduct real-time monitoring of key parameters such as influent flow rate, oil content and suspended solids concentration, and automatically adjust the operating status to realize unattended operation. Waste oil and sludge are discharged through pressurized oil and sludge discharge, without the need for mechanical sludge scraping devices, which further reduces O&M costs and operational noise, making the O&M process more convenient and efficient.

The core performance differences between Sinokle's CFU technology and traditional DAF technologies are clear at a glance through the following parameter comparison, with its advantages being particularly prominent in treatment efficiency, compactness, automation level and other aspects.

CFU technology has a wide scope of application. It can treat industrial wastewater with an oil content of ≤1000 ppm and suspended solids of ≤200 mg/L, with a maximum treatment capacity of 500 m³/h. It can withstand a media temperature of <80℃ and operates at a pressure of >0.1 MPa with a system pressure drop of >0.05 MPa. It supports various gas media such as air, nitrogen and natural gas, and can adapt to the oily wastewater treatment needs of different industries.

Engineering Practice

Sinokle's CFU technology has been applied in oily wastewater treatment projects in various industries including petroleum exploitation, refining and chemical processing, and mechanical manufacturing, and has won customer recognition by virtue of its efficient and stable treatment effect. In a produced water treatment project in an oilfield, the raw water had an oil content of 800 ppm and suspended solids of 180 mg/L. After treatment with CFU technology, the oil content of the effluent was reduced to below 80 ppm, and the suspended solids removal rate reached 75%, which fully met the influent requirements of the subsequent treatment process. In addition, the floor space of the equipment is only one-fifth of that of the traditional DAF system, greatly saving the precious on-site space of the oilfield.

In an electric desalting effluent treatment project in a petrochemical enterprise, CFU technology demonstrated extremely strong shock load resistance. Faced with the complex working condition of ±50% fluctuation in influent oil content, the equipment still operated stably, the effluent oil content was always controlled below 100 ppm, and the single-stage oil removal efficiency remained above 82%. This effectively alleviated the load of the subsequent biochemical treatment system and saved more than 600,000 RMB in annual operating costs. In addition, the skid-mounted design of CFU technology in this project enabled the on-site installation, commissioning and put into operation to be completed in only 10 days, cutting the construction period by 80% compared with traditional technologies, and providing strong support for the enterprise to quickly meet environmental protection standards.

In an oily wastewater treatment project in the mechanical processing industry, CFU technology reduced labor costs by more than 70% through fully automatic operation. Moreover, no chemical agents are added, avoiding secondary pollution. The treated water is clear, and part of it can be recycled and reused, which saves water resource costs for the enterprise and achieves a win-win outcome for environmental protection and economic benefits.
